Company Description
The Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation for Education (AGFE) is a non-profit, philanthropic organization serving as the Al Ghurair family legacy and contribution to the education sector in the UAE and Arab region. It seeks to support generations of Emirati and Arab youth and develop the workforce of the future through sustainable and innovative education and learning solutions. AGFE’s interventions provide learners with the educational and career development opportunities they need to become the future leaders of the region – skilled for today and prepared for the opportunities of tomorrow – contributing in turn to the growth of their communities.
AGFE spearheaded a multi-sector partnership initiative – “NOMU” – that aims to boost the competitiveness and job readiness of Emirati youth. NOMU seeks to upskill and reskill 25,000 Emirati youth by 2025 and equip them with the skills, tools, and experience they need to succeed in a digital, knowledge-based economy. Arabic for “growth,” NOMU will serve as a scalable model which recognizes, equips, and supports youth as critical actors in the sustainable development of the UAE.
NOMU will increase employability through high-quality training, enhance digital and transferable skills via workplace learning opportunities, and provide access to market-driven technical degrees. It is a unique opportunity to produce a continuous stream of future shapers who will contribute to the UAE Vision 2021, UAE Centennial 2071, the UAE Energy Strategy 2050, and other priority areas.
Pathways
Providing market-driven and future-facing educational opportunities, AGFE seeks to create learning pathways for young people, ranging from first job seekers to those looking to reskill to avoid losing their jobs to automation. NOMU offers several unique pathways to elevate the livelihoods of Emirati youth and contribute to the UAE’s future-facing vision.
The ‘TechUp’ pathway, in partnership with Udacity, provides young people with foundational digital literacy skills and highly specialized and market-driven technical Nanodegrees.
NOMU beneficiaries will also be exposed to other pathway programs and structured workplace learning models bringing corporates and universities together and allowing graduates to become workforce ready. NOMU invests in talent pathways today for a better tomorrow.
